Material Engineering

We research new materials and their mechanical properties, analyze the microstructures created by additive manufacturing.

Materials research and development with an emphasis on advanced metallic and non-metallic materials processed with the most modern technologies (e.g. hot stamping, electric beam welding, mechanical alloying, tixo-forming, etc.), development and application of new diagnostic methods and procedures for material characterization.

Material-technological research and development of new technologies, mainly oriented towards the technological processing of modern engineering materials and ecologically clean production. The possibility of modeling industrially used thermomechanical processes and their subsequent optimization aimed at improving the efficiency and reducing the energy demand of the process, or achieving better mechanical properties of the product.

Research and development of materials for the energy industry focused on optimizing the heat treatment of steels currently used in the energy industry and the development of new materials for hydrogen storage.

Comprehensive material research of additively produced metals and composites with a plastic matrix for commercial applications, including subsequent heat treatment and material characterization, testing of real thermal and mechanical loads of 3D printed products.

Complex material research and testing of layers, as feedback for optimizing production parameters (e.g. heat spraying). Metallographic analyzes of metallic and non-metallic materials, e.g. evaluation of weld joints, micropurity, grain size, surface layers and coatings, determination of the causes of material failure, chemical composition of steels, wear resistance.
